I need help... can you help me?

Okay... I've been browsing blogs, and I am sure like every other blogger out there, I am wondering how you increase readers, obtain returning visitors, maintain regulars, get comments left, build followers, and get your blog posted on another blog, ?

I mean, sometimes, you wonder, "what's the point of what I am doing?", and it's not just me, I've read this from other bloggers and usually we try to give them encouragement to keep on going.

I'd like to see increased activity from my blog, and happy readers, what should I do?

Is it:

Giveaways
Tutorials or how to's
Topic (ie. miscellaneous, quilting, art, cooking, personal stuff, etc.,.)
Lots of pictures
Less pictures
Shorter comments
Lots of posts

And what reasons would there be that readers don't come back to your blog, or you are removed from someone else's blog and you don't know why?

Is it:

Boring content
Not enough posts
Getting too personal
Competition

What other reasons for each one can you tell me? I'd like to know because I'd like to improve... I mean, I see there's traffic, but it's nice to know who's visiting and why... please help me!

Hugs....Heather

  1. Hi Sis,
Sorry no help from me!! As you know, I have no blog, but there are a couple that I take a quick look at..... but I only comment on yours and Mom's.

The one's that I do visit, I take interest in the crafts that they do. I very rarely participate in the giveaways.... when I do, it is because the giveaway is from a manufactor whom passes by a blogger. So I figure that is for publicity reasons. I do not feel right to enter a personal giveaway if I am not a faithful follower of that blog.

I imagine that there are many reasons people will stop taking interest in a blog. As I mentioned, I cannot really be of help!
    Hugs and Good Luck!
    Sis. Theresa

  2. Hi Heather, not sure if I can be of any help either. I follow quilting blogs where the quilts appeal to what I want to learn. The pages are presented in a simple manner with pictures; and a good outline of the project being presented. They are usually updated on a regular basis and sometimes have tutorials which are great. I see you have the Free-Motion Quilting Challenge posted and that is great... looking into that one! I also am planning on learning EQ7 better this year and starting with once a month creating a block with EQ7 and piecing it hopefully for a full quilt at the end. I would think it difficult to please everyone. I guess it comes down to defining what purpose your blog serves... quilting? embroidery? crafts, general sewing... and so on. I sure hope this helps. I do enjoy visiting your site but I should comment more often so you know I have. Take care... G
